Well Christmas 2012 is just about over. It has been a wonderful Christmas with lots of time spent with family and friends...We didn't have any retreats at the Barn in December....I was trying to finish Christmas quilts and still have time to do some shopping.
Well Rick & I did finish that shopping on Saturday. Can't believe we had 2 days to spare. That left Sunday to do the dreaded Grocery shopping!
Even though we didn't have retreats the Barn was put to good use this month....My sisters Regina & Lori hosted a cookie swap while I was having a "Premier Jewelry" show...Now that was a lot of fun...Then my family gathered to do some holiday baking... Lauren & Linnie were home from Martin Methodist and had friends over to play games and music. Those kids are so talented.
Then today (CHRISTmas day) we gathered once again for family, food, and fun times...

The next quilt class at the Barn is a strip pieced lily block, with an appliqued stem and leaf. Block construction includes diamond shaped pieces, with Y seams, a great technique to learn.
Make the pieced version, or make the block using plain fabric, or make both versions and combine in your quilt.
Inspired by a block from Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.
Class Fee $40
Class fee includes 1 yd. background fabric. Additional fabric will be available for
purchase if you desire.
What you will need to bring:
Sewing machine
Rotary cutter and ruler
Thread
Fusible Web - bring it if you have it, or you may purchase it in class
Fabrics:
You will need fabrics for the petals and the leaves and stem.
If you want to make the strip pieced version, you will need 1" strips in in a variety of colors. You can also use unpieced fabric for the petals. Stripes can work well for this. Bring a variety of greens for stems and leaves. We will not be exchanging fabric this time.

Around the House Class
This class was held June 29, 2012
Class members worked on strip pieced house blocks, and could choose to make a small Medallion quilt, or make more blocks for a bed size quilt. The block was inspired by a block from Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.
It was a great class, with lots of fun and lots of learning. Always inspiring to sew with a group of of other dedicated quilters!
